Criminal Intent

Synopsis: "Criminal Intent", starring Linda Purl, Sebastian Spence, Vanessa Angel, and David Palffy. A man accused of murdering her ex-wife hires her divorce attorney to defend him.

I always try to have a strong opening scene and Criminal Intent starts off with a frantic 911 call, a dying woman, and a tense police arrest. Actor Sebastian Spence did a terrific job while director George Erschbamer kept the pace fast and intense. Best of all, from a writer's point of view, it was word for word what I'd written.

Watch the opening scene from Criminal Intent.
(Quicktime movie 3+): 3 mins. 46 secs.

Cast of Real Characters

Actor David Palffy plays Treasury Agent "Mark Fairfield". The real Mark Fairfield works with me at CBC. Watching the handsome, sauve actor playing him, Mark's wife kept mutteriing, "Such a difference...".

"Kirsten Sorensen", played by Linda Purl, is my next door neighbour.

"Susan Grace" (Vanessa Angel) is a combination of my wife and her grandmother's first names.

In one scene, Susan Grace holds a knife to Kirsten Sorensen's throat. My wife turned to my neighbour and said "This is my favourite part."

"Fantastic Four" vrs. "Criminal Intent"

Despite the 100 million dollar difference in budgets, I can honestly say "Criminal Intent" was at the same level of "Fantastic Four". Here's the proof, in this Vancouver Sun "What's Shooting" item that listed both movies side by side. I took a ruler, carefully lined it up under both titles and discovered they were exactly at the same level.
